    Snake bones are tiny and delicate, you would not hear it break.

    If you injured him internally, you might not notice until too late, a vet visit might be in order. They could Xray him to check for broken bones or check him for any issues(fluid buildup from injury?).

    It depends on how much you stepped on him... not really how long it took.
