Some Morelia and Liasis photos

Got inspired to get the camera out again tonight and take a few shots of some of my favorite species we keep. The adult chondro is one that we hatched out here in 2009 and will be bred this coming winter, the juvenile chondro is a holdback from a clutch we hatched last year and is just starting to turn green over the past few weeks, and the third snake is our adult female Macklot's python (I can't figure out why they're not more popular...they're awesome!!!)

Nice pictures, I love that vivid green stripe down the juvi GTP's back. I've got a pair of macs myself. While I really like them a lot and they are one of my most interesting snakes, I'm really not surprised that they're not more popular as mine are still at the stage where they'll grab anything and everything that comes into their tub. I figure I'm still about a year away until they're calm enough that I won't bleed every time I handle them.

Beautiful pictures and animals! Also Macklot's are amazing- I totally agree. I used to have a pair years ago and they were totally calm and sooooo iridescent. I would like to add them to the collection again at some point.

I figured I'd better get some shots of this one since it's the only one left in between right now. Hopefully next winter we'll be hatching out some third generation animals so we can start the process over again. We've hatched out around 75 of them in the past 5 years or so and one time we got so lucky to have a "blaze" hatchling come out....awesome stuff!

Thanks - I wish I could find something useful or profitable to do with my snake photos, but they're not exactly a hot ticket item for publishing...lol

I never really noticed the stripe too much until people that have seen these pictures started commenting on it. It'd be nicer if it was a white stripe!

I totally get why the macks get a bad reputation. Mine are a few years old and still a little cage defensive, but they're completely fine once they're out or at least as soon as we touch them while they're still in the tubs. I think if they were more colorful (like green trees) that people would be more accepting of the 'tude. How old are yours?

Mine are only a little over a year old and only about 3 feet long. The person I bought them from uses his adults in educational shows where they get handled by hundred of people. They are amongst the calmest and most peaceful snakes I've known. He tells me that the babies are biters no matter how much they're handled but will calm down once they near adult size. I figure I'm at least a year away from that maybe longer.
