Question Healthy female BP weight for 2 years old question

I've been in contact with a guy selling off his BP collection and he has a female spider that I want, but he said it was born in 2010 and weighs 671g doesn't that seem a bit small for a 2 year old female? I'm wondering if it's a male and he's trying to put one over on me or if someone misinformed him when he got it.

    Thanks for the help!

That is either a very small female (probably has eating issues), not a 2010, or a male.

May be a picky eater too. I have a '10 that hasn't eaten in 3 months and she's around 750g.

Age and Weight can not be compared sometimes. Also you cannot always assume sex based on weight.

I have a couple 2011 females that are 800g and 1000g respectively and another 2011 female that is only 350g (problem feeder). Each animal will grow depending on their feeding schedule and feeding response.

For a 2010 I would say that 670g is pretty light, my 2011 girls have reached the weights I stated above on a 5 day feeding routine until about 500g or 600g and now they are on a 7 day cycle.

When buying a snake all I can recommend is that you buy from a reputable source and if you don't feel comfortable making the purchase, don't.

^^^This is right...I have an '09 female that has yet to hit the 700 gram mark. She is definitely a female and has zero issues other than she is a picky eater. She is perfectly proportionate, not light or underweight. So age and sex are not good indicators of what weight should be, and picky eaters can be perfectly healthy snakes...though they are also a HUGE pain at times.

In your case, if you're looking for a breeder, I'd keep looking...spiders with size are easy enough to find.

2010 is a pretty broad hatch date...She could have hatched anywhere from january through december of 2010...
