I use a ceramic tower oscillating heater which is efficient, but I'm definitely switching over to an infrared radiant heater next winter. I've looked into them at length, have seen them in use over long periods of time, and am convinced that they are very safe and economically efficient.

x2 to ^. I bought an infrared radiant heater at the start of this last winter and wow, what a difference that made! Waaaaaay more efficient, well worth the initial cost in terms of keeping a constant and steady temperature inside my snake room regardless of the weather outside and a lot less headache than messing with and constantly adjusting a ceramic or oil-filled heater. Just my two cents but if it were me, I'd say go for it.

I have the same myself. I think it is probably the best way to go for me since there is two windows in the room and during the winter I know the room gets cold. With the fan it keeps the room even. In addition it has a built in thermostat and I have only seen ambient in the tubs cool side bounce 1-2 degrees. In addition most ceramics should have tip over protection built in.
