I also learned how to reduce ketones and blood sugar level at a safe pace So had I felt the need to stay in hospital, and take up a bed, and their time, I would have. Believe me, I've never walked out on a hospital admission, I made sure the doctor understood where I was coming from and she felt it was fine for me to go home. I'm on penicillin for the throat issue and it is getting easier, slowly. I'm not one to mess around with things I know nothing about.
I'm diabetic as well, juvenile onset as opposed to Type 2 for those in the know, lol! It SUCKS when you're sick and just adds to the hassle of being ill having to deal with high sugars and all that jazz. Not sure what you guys have available in your neck of the world but have you looked at an insulin pump, if they're available? I went on mine about 8 years ago (been diabetic for 22 years now) and it's made a world of difference in my A1C results and my day-to-day living. It's not foolproof and takes some learning to manage it and get familiar with the system but if they're available over that way, it might be worth looking into. I know with injections, depending on the type of insulin you're using (long-lasting, faster-acting or a mix of the two), it can be pretty difficult to get any real control of your levels except in a very general sense. Mine has a feature for continuous glucose monitoring that interfaces with my blood glucose meter and the insulin pump itself; it's phenomenal for control! Gives a much more accurate picture over the course of the day/night than do finger sticks alone. I dunno, just a thought. Hope you're feeling better and taking care of yourself. Diabetes sucks and it's nothing to mess around with. Take care of you and get to feeling better!
