I don't get involved. The rats and mice do that for me. As long as they eat, I don't care.

My snake is a pampered princess. She'll never have to work for her food.

f/t with a little bit of a zombie dance for her while she was perched

f/t fed infront of her hide - she usually just takes it the second I get near her. I don't want or feel the need to make them work for their food. Although, with my milk snakes I sometimes hide their food and let them find it since they are more consistent feeders than my carpets or balls

I do whatever it takes for them to eat. They usually make ME do a little extra work.

x2! Amen to that. I swear my normal girl changes her mind on how she wants her food offered every week. Sometimes i just put it in there, other times i have to zombie dance, sometimes i gotta brain it for her, and finally sometimes i gotta eat it up extra with the blowdryer....
I get tired out keeping up with the lil brats! After that i dont have energy to make them work for their food lol. Although im sure if i did that to my cinny boy he'd be smart enough to just bite me instead of chasing the tongs all over the tub lol.

Not all my snakes are active hunters - some are just sit and wait predators. I also feed mostly f/t so I tease feed, but don't make them move too much. The lizard feeders mostly eat live... but they are also mostly sit-n-wait snakes - except for the O. rhombifer which will chase the geckos spastically.

    Re: Snake feedings

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this, but as an ambush predator, why would the snake want to chase its food around?

I do the zombie dance. Otherwise he just looks at the body 'til it goes cold.
