Re: Supportive better half? Who has it and who doesn't?
My boyfriend is very supportive and takes interest in my snakes. He helps me take care of them all of the time. I also try to take an interest in his hobbies which would be mountain biking, boating, and making home brewed hard apple cider. We both take a genuine interest in eachother's hobbies. My boyfriend would not even look at a snake before he met me, lol.

My wife's father had a boa and burm when she was little. She actually sparked my interest and we purchased a normal bp from PetSmart. Well, just like many other stories, I got bit by the bug. I then proceeded to build a rack and start filling it, lol. My wife is very supportive, I do all the cleaning, she likes to help with feedings and she helps with the rats.
I am definitely one of the lucky ones.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Hope you can continue to educate her and maybe make a breakthrough. It has happened before

That's pretty important. Giving and receiving the support. Sounds like a receipe for success

I am/was the supportive better half. My husband and I agreed on the snake (I'd never held a snake before in my life) with the agreement that he'd do all the work.
Well...25+ snakes later I'm the one doing 99% of the feeding, cleaning, etc. The collection is "ours" but we do have "his" snakes and "mine." The boas are his, the blood is his, the Hondurans are his and the brooks kingsnake is his. The rest are my babies.
We discuss and plan breeding projects together, but its me who does the tub-hopping and keeping track of stuff. We attend shows together, but its me fawning over the balls and trying to justify a purchase by fitting it into an already-existing breeding project. (Ok Ok...starting a whole new breeding project as justification of the purchase... )
I'm by no part demeaning his participation...its really developed into a hobby for both of us rather than just "his" snake.

If it weren't for my wife, I would never have gotten my first snake. So mine is very supportive. They are "her babies" as much as they are mine.

At first my Girlfriend wasnt to into it and was kind of hesitant to even hold a snake. She eventually got to a point where she was fine then I bought her one and she fell in love. Now she is very supportive of it and even comes up with new ideas and helps clean cages and what not.

That's awesome Cory. My girlfriend wants nothing to do with the feedings but I'll take it

That's really neat. My girlfriend is not on that level yet but who knows, if she keeps up like this she might find her way there You got a good thing going.
