    Breeding bloods which ones?

    Hi everyone:

So, I've decided to start breeding bloods, wanted to ask everyone's opinions on what to breed. Currently I have 5 (3.2) SSTP, 2 regular reds (1.1) but am looking to buy a lot more. My question is, what is the best blood combo to breed in your opinion? Money isn't an option, I have the time, money and space, just not sure what to start with. I personally favor black SSTP, and the ones I have are jet black now, from head to toe, but not sure if I want to go that route. I plan on buying at least 20 more adults in the next few months, in your opinion what bloods should I start with or go with?

I hate to be the jerk of the thread, and I'm saying this with all due respect, but a Sumatran short tail python is not a blood python. only python curtus and it's subspecies python curtus brongersmai are considered bloods.

Once again not trying to be rude, just clarify

If i were you, i would try to get some sweet chrome heads, that's what seems to be the rage right now. Talk to Keith McPeek at the blood line, he should be able to help you out in a few months.

ALSO, join curtusforum.org! a really nice group of short tail enthusiasts who are always willing to help. Good Luck

Borneos are great. Super stripes and marbled are pretty awesome. Check out the ghosts on McPeeks website though, pretty stunning if you ask me.

Overall I have to admit Sumatrans are my favourite of all time.

...and I agree about the Sumatran-- Black blood thing.. it always annoys me when I hear them described as black bloods. They are a completely different species! good luck on breeding though, I am super excited for you and a little jealous. I am still working on my collection of STPs before I start breeding.

But Python curtus IS the Sumatran short-tail. They were all elevated to species status, so no need for the subspecies tag... Only Python brongersmai is a blood.

Work with what you enjoy. Don't be dictated by the market. If your gonna breed large scale you will have your holdbacks and begin to line breed your own stuff.
And if you do have exceptional black SSTP's, I would definitely go that route. They are the most under appreciated , least worked with of the three, yet jet black offspring are ALWAYS in demand.
