they are likely highschool kids who know no better..
Just read your butt off and ask questions, as I type my normal is in a tupper ware container swiming with a micro fiber cloth (Stuck Shed) although this shed was 100% better then his first I am beginning to think he's lazy as my lesser in the same conditions 100% shed perfectly.
and then time to eat
we would never steer you wrong here... as we love our pets, friends !!!
as hard as it is give us some trust !!

That price was similar to other herp stores in the area. I did see them cheever online, tho. Nothing about that price surprises me around here. It's *Boca* afterall, where even McDonald's has valet parking.
I'm back from the herp store. I left the snakes in the car. I was already on the road when I realized what they had was mites. They would not have let me enter with snakes full of mites anyway ( I asked ). As is usual for them on the weekends, they were swamped and today also short staffed. He still answered all my questions. Said hoppers were too small and that I should be giving them mice. No surprise there. So I got 4 mice.
I asked about the cannibalism. Btw, the main guy over there is no a teenager. He's either the store owner or manager. Late 30's, early 40's. I think he actually sleeps with the snakes at night (joke).
I asked about housing them together again. And again he said it was fine. I told them I had read about the cannibalism. He said yes, he knows, but it's very rare and he's never seen it happen with ball pythons.
He was going to make me a batch of their in-store solution for mites, but I declined. He seemed way too busy and there were 4 others waiting on him. I'll just order the PAM online.
I'm going to email him a link to the page about cannibalism. Maybe he really just doesn't know. Whatever. Not my problem.
So I'm siting here watching the snakes completely ignore the mice. Is it common for them to refuse to eat when they have mites? They usually jump on the food immediately after I put them in.

I'm pretty sure the mouse I put in with the male was biting him. So I've put the snakes back in the tank without having eaten. I guess I'll try again later.

could be they are stressed from the ride !!
Hopefully you will decide to put some faith into what you have read here or keep believing what some guy at a pet store that needs to SELL in order to stay in business !
Do you seriously think they wouldn't allow you into the store with a mite infested snake?? Did they have someone at the door inspecting what people were bringing in ??
Separate your guys, and let them settle then attempt to feed !
again, not trying to belittle you just trying to help you understand what your Ball's need !!
OMFG \
After reading your last post, you need to list your snakes in the for sale section ASAP !! everyone here is trying to help yet you haven't done anything to help yourself or your SNAKES

Bolded: I can guarantee all the other pastels at the price weren't supers either then. I would double check their sexes too: if they sold a normal pastel as a super I'd be having some doubts.
I agree that I think they're not hungry due to the stress of the drive to and from the herp store. I'd separate them and leave them be for at least a day before offering a mouse again.

Always monitor live feedings, even if you have to sit there watching for thirty minutes. If your snake has new bites from the mouse I'd keep an eye on them and some diluted betadine solution to the wounds wouldn't hurt either.

You remind me of my husband.
Calm down and READ my posts, why don't you?
This place isn't like a Petco; full of High school kids who have no knowledge about what they're selling. These people have been in the business for years and have always been highly recommended among peoria I know who have done business with them.
I took my snakes to them for two reasons. #1, To see what they had to say so that I could (A) see how their advice aligned with the online community and (B) see if they really didn't know anything about cannibalism between ball pythons, and #2, to hear what someone had to say who had actually laid their eyeballs on my snakes and not just seen a 400x600 pixel image on the Internet.
Do you honestly think I would be here and on 100 other sites reading up on if I didn't give ? Why should I blindly bow down and praise Allah for your advice when blindly trusting someone is what led me to house two snakes together in the first place?
If you want to help me, then help me cuz I'm all ears. But if you want to yell and be condescending, then it will all fall on deaf ears. I don't respond well to tantrums. Not even from my kids.
Daydreamer,
Now you've got me really wondering. They were sexed in front of me by 2 different guys. But you've planted a seed of doubt in me now. How should I get them sexed again? Should I take them to a vet?
As for whether she's really a super or if he's really a fire. I have spent hours comparing them to images of other BP morphs online and I am still at a loss. It's really hard for me to see the difference between a pastel and a super pastel online. I have found a lot of fires that look like Bogo. But I've also seen a lot that don't. There seems to be a wide range that fall under the same labels. So I will leave that all up to the experts to decide. I'll post some better pix here soon and let you all tell me if I got robbed or not. If the verdict is yes, somehow I still don't really care for myself. I never planned in breeding them anyway. And I never set out to get a super pastel and a fire. They were just the ones I liked the most. I enjoy watching them eat, grow and I enjoy caring for them. That's all.

Re: Need advice about bp's growth rate
Here's a pic of Manasha again under her heat lamp. I seriously can't tell if she's a pastel or super pastel. With some snakes on the net, it's plain as night and day. And some others that look pastel are presented as super's so who knows. My brain hurts.

Judging from that picture it sure looks super to me.

I wouldn't class them any higher then petco/petsmart, as for how long they have been in business... Just browse here at the knowledge you have available at your finger tips.
You were advised here you more then likely had mites, yet you chose to take your possibly infested snakes to a place with other herps.... its not on them but you, lets look at the reasons if not them why they have a mite issue
Do you honestly think I would be here and on 100 other sites reading up on sh!t if I didn't give a - ? Why should I blindly bow down and praise Allah for your advice when blindly trusting someone is what led me to house two snakes together in the first place?
A simple google search turns up thousands of reasons Snakes should not be together, let alone the reasons you were shown here !!
If you want to help me, then help me cuz I'm all ears. But if you want to yell and be condescending, then it will all fall on deaf ears. I don't respond well to tantrums. Not even from my kids.
I/We have been doing nothing BUT trying to help you... read a little more into that and a little less into nit picking !
