    Another option is to leave your Acurite where it is, to measure the humidity and hot spot. Get a second Acurite that you can velcro outside the tank and run the probe to near the substrate on the cool side (inside), to measure ambient temps. The probe will take up less space than squeezing the whole unit near the floor, and be much more accurate than the dial-type.
