Re: Cleaned Hide, now Snake won't use it.
If you can order it where you live provent a mite is what I have heard works best. Just follow directions to a t! Change out substrate to papertowels until cleared up. To provide your snake relief, try a warm soak in water with A drop of dawn dishwashing soap. This will help drown the little buggers. Don't know about oil, never heard of its use, don't think I would try.

when i had a bad infestation from rodent transfer back when i was doing my Australian python thing, a Great Herp Vet recommended using olive oil, his stance was this, when using water the mites will travel up to the dry spot, generally the head, + the water does create tiny air bubbles around the scales, allowing the mites to still get oxygen to survive, at least the ones who are embedded under scales. but the extra virgin olive oil you can do the entire snake safely even on the head, to help suffocate them better, since the oil wont bead off the snake right away like water will, he also said start with the head and work towards the tail. i have done it, and it in no way harmed my snakes at the time, and actually seemed to kill them off more effectively then a warm water soak.
adding the protection of the prevent-a-mite (very lightly) in, on, and around the cage, (make sure is dry entirely), helped kill off the remaining mites traveling for egg laying or water, and when the eggs hatched later when they tried finding the snakes to infest again. since mites travel to lay eggs.

Re: Cleaned Hide, now Snake won't use it.
Unfortunately, they are back! thought they had gone but found another one today, I have only ever found one at a time.
Will try bathing, olive oil and another bleech clean to sooth etc but i have just ordered some mite stuff (Callington Mite Spray) and Disinfectant to help with the battle. Can that mite spray be applied directly to the snake?
Thanks all for your help!

mites are not a one treatment cure, since they tend to lay eggs away from the cage and return when they hatch. daily cleaning, and soaks for a few weeks.
