RoyalPedegrees.com to track genetics?

I was looking at royalpedegrees.com & thought it would be an easy way to track my BP's genetics, pedegre, etc. Has anyone tried it, or heard anything about it?

Your post is the first I've heard of it. I've been using iHerp for lineage tracking.

A quick glance over the front page, and I'm a bit dubious as to its value, particularly when compared with iHerp.

The only advantage I see is that when changes are made to records, who made them is logged. That could become valuable when snakes change hands several times.

Still, it's not exactly a real registry. I'm not entirely sure whether it's worth it--have to think about it. Seems to be only 2 years old. Only 40 snakes registered? Hum.

I have to say, I don't this site is going to make it...which means, it wouldn't really be worth putting any data in there. Lot of time to spend, if it's going no where.

I think if a ball python registry is going to succeed, it has to be a lot more solid, controlled, and a LOT less wishy-washy. Even if toes are stepped on. For example, once an animal's photo is set up, that's ought to be it--no changing it later. Adding photos, sure, but never change the first one, or what good is it? Why bother allowing registration of animals with no photos? No point in that, since there's no way to ID them.
A wiki-style system is virtually pointless...if you just want to track lineage in your own collection, you can use Degei.

I've checked iHerp in the past, but I guess I need to spend more time figuring it out. I didn't see anything about tracking lineage or registering animals. It just looked like Facebook for reptiles to me. If I can get it to print out a pedigree with pictures, I'd be real happy with that.

lol, far from a FB with reptiles. You can register animals and see lineage. Printing is a little more difficult as their isnt a print option on the lineage page, but just take a screen shot and youre good to go.

I agree that iherp is probably a lot safer. I have all my tracking information/photos/breeding data on that site. If it only had 40 animals Id be terrified of waking up one day and the site would be gone....
