More than likely a chemical soak that darkens the pigment in the skin.

only time i save any sheds is right before breeding season, ziplock them, than put them in a day or 2 before i pair up to get the males frisky if they are reluctant. (obviously another males shed not his own). after that trash'em all

I impulsively collect any of the nicer sheds (cleaner, complete, not ripped up or covered in poo ). Now that JKR gear exists I have a valid excuse for it, was simply because I liked them before. One of my favorite things is keeping hatchling sheds and looking at the size difference as they get older

the best thing with Justin is that he proceeds from the bio melds goes to support sheds for shelters, it helps homeless people, it goes to USARK. I wish they would make stuff for other devices like for an ipad would be sweet. But I printed up his flyer and posted at a few pet stores to get people to bring in there sheds including the stores animal sheds. He doesn't just do snakes, so if you have a reptile that sheds in one complete shed they can use those too. but I made a deal that if the pet store will collect them I will send them in to him I got like 15 but I can fit a lot more in a small flat rate box.

I agree, it is an all around great thing Justin & JKR Gear is doing. We need to help spread the word.

I used to save any good ones and send them to teachers I know for them to use in classrooms to oooh and ahhh the kids with for biology classes and such. Any of my non-snake keeping friends that wanted one took one too.

I'm going to start saving the ones now for the project! That's pretty cool and thanks to crepers86 for pointing out the other reptiles. My tegu doesn't shed whole, so I'll ask Justin if he can use large pieces.
