How often do you have to mist/spritz your enclosures?

Also, if you could please reply with what type of region you live in, and what you use for a substrate.

I am finding that I have to mist my snake's tank twice a day! I live in New England, which is a bit dry this time of year I guess, and I use Eco Earth for bedding, with a good amount of sphagnum moss.

I'd like to get this working better, but I'm also curious about what you do with your snakes!

I don't have to mist at all (during shed I have to but normally I do not)

I live in Florida so that plays a big role in it, The other main factor is the PVC cages that I use. The PVC cages hold in the heat and humidity very well and use Flexwatt or Radiant Heat Panels to provide the proper temperatures (neither kill humidity)

I use either corrugated wrap or paper towels for my substrate

I do have a automated misting system but I only use it during shed. (the misting system consists of a mist king pump/nozzle system and my Herpstat 4/ Herpstat humidity sensor)

From California where it's always dry.
I never have to mist, but that's because I use a tub/rack set up with newspaper substrate. Humidity has never been an issue.

Thanks for the replies. I like the tank for aestetics, so I don't really mind the maintenence that much, but it would be nice to only have to mist once a day or so. Then again, I was in a pinch when she arrived and ended up getting an analog hygrometer so it might not be 100% accurate...but I bet it's fairly close. I usually get it up to about 60% and it falls to around 40% by the end of the day.

Cover 90% of the tank screen with foil or a damp towel.
Are you using a heat lamp too? Lamps suck out humidity like a sponge

That's why I use the PVC cages, they have the aesthetics of a tank, with the ease of a tub!

I only mist when in shed mostly. Winter months get dry so i mist few times a week but as summer comes, I never mist as humidity stays 45-55 in snake room
