Anyway, Saxguy, show your parents that you're responsible enough to handle a boa. Pick up on your chores around the house, offer to do things instead of waiting to be asked, try striking a deal or two with them, take an active interest in snakes inside of your home as well as outside-try to meet anyone local who keeps boas, see if you can get some hands on experience.
Great response. I agree 100% with this!

Females can easily get 8 to 10 feet long.

Get a male! Or small locale, etc...

    Re: Boa Bites

I've been bit by my boa, it didn't hurt at all. And I have learned by watching, what her habits are before a defensive strike and how to avoid one that is a feeding response. Boas are awesome and you should not let the bite scare you away. If you're worried about size I would just get a male. Females get to 8 or 9 feet.

I was recently bitten by a Caulker Cay Boa, & it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. It was my first boa bite. I can't compare it, since my Balls never bit me.. The only python bites I have had was a baby Green Tree Python (Biak cross), and that was very mild.. In my opinion, after you've handled them about a year, you shouldn't get bit unless your hands smell of rodent, or you startle the snake while it's asleep...

Probably around 1200 grams, Im thinking what hurt the most was the tooth that was stuck in my finger a couple months after the bite. I didnt pull away either just was a loose tooth and somehow was left in my finger lol

I didnt notice it was in there, There was a bump for along time and I tried like going in with a razor to get whatever was in there out and couldnt. Then while I was in Japan walking through the mall I noticed part of the tooth sticking out lol and then pulled it out. Pretty crazy huh?

    Re: Boa Bites

I have never been bit by an adult boa, but I'm sure that it would hurt more than a ball bite. I have owned / do own quite a few boas, and most are very docile. I have been bit by an adult ball once, on the other hand, and it didn't hurt. That is not saying that not all ball bites don't hurt, however.
