    Eating a ripped up rat.

I just fed my ball a thawed rat and he struck and hit the rat in the stomach and i didn't think anything of it. Then as i came back to check on him there was a mess everywhere, he ripped open its stomach i think. He still ate it fine, theres just a big mess for me to clean up has this ever happened to anyone else?

I have had a f/t fall apart a little bit before. It is gross, but not a big deal in my experience.

It happens. Some have said it may be caused by thawing too fast. I've noticed it happens more often with ones that were re-thawed. I just clean it up and go on.

yea I had the same thing happen last week, rat got a hole in its belly with guts hanging out and such. I just try to feed it to my 'less picky' balls, or if everyone refuses it goes ot my my SD retic which is the garbage disposal pretty much though she makes a horrid mess out of it cause she of course still constricts it ugh.

I've had it happen a few times. First time I threw out the rat, now if it happens I just gut it, rinse out the body and feed it.
I have found it to be caused from thawing to fast (hot), now I thaw cooler over a few hours.

    My Agnes prefers them exploded.

She swallows the intact part of the rat then *slurps* the trail of innards down like spaghetti...and smacks her lips in obvious delight.

    [I know...GROSS]
