I am a strange one. I Love working with the public, and the meaner and madder they are, the betterI saw them as a challenge to either educate, or to make look a fool and in turn make them see the foolishness in what they were saying, and then having them thanking for spending the time with them
I do not care how upset they get, know my job, and know that figuring out what is really wrong can be the beginning of a better life for their pet. I work for a vet, and we see many mad mad people. I have been told I am going to Heii more times than once, but remained calm and nice. The nicer you are, the more it irks someone and it becomes very hard to continue to be ugly to someone who refuses to be ugly back. Then, as a last resort, I tell them that our first concern is their pets well being and it they did not feel their needs were been met, then we simply could not in good faith serve them. That would be against our goals. Then 9 times out of 10 they ask to stay and be seen, but rarely do we allow it. Depends on my gut feeling. Having a sick or injured animal can be stressful and some people are just downright ugly when stressed. Getting kicked out of a vet clinic sometimes is the eye opener they need. I even offer to call another clinic for them and see if they have time to see them. My old boss sure misses me now...
