Tub and uth question

hey guys I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times. I was wondering how the humidity and cool side temps stay at a proper level in a tub with just a Zoomed UTH? any ideas?

they don't, UTH's do not affect the air temperature in the tub, if your room gets below 75 degrees another heat source must be used to keep the air temperatures correct. UTH's also do not add or subtract humidity so whatever level your room is that is what your tub will be. You will have to mist or use a substrate that holds in moisture to regulate humidity.


Any UTH must be regulated by a thermostat.

ok I'll just stick with colubrids then. Thanks guys for the help. lol my dream of owning a BP were just crushed I would feel like a POS if something were to happen to my ball. How else would you heat a tub along with a UTH. I live in california we don't have central air in the house just room air conditioners. I would imagine that the room I would be keeping it in would probably be about 70 all day and night. I have a hallway that would be a little warmer by about 5 degrees.

There are some very easy ways to maintain the ambient temps, I wouldn't give up so easily, BP's are great

I live in CA and my room temp is 70-75. My balls are in tubs and the temperature inside is 80 cool side, 89 hot side. Before my rack, I kept them in stand alone tubs on a storage shelf. The rack definitely insulates the heat really well. Much better than out in the open.
You can build a wooden box to put your tub in. It will help heating the tub.

You can also get a space heater to heat that individual room.

And the humidity is based on how many holes you put in the tub. Less holes = more humidity.

and as far as a space heater goes I am mainly talking about summer time. It gets baking in my room in the summer time. Thats why we just run a portable a/c to cool the room down a bit.

If you're using portable AC units in each room it stands to reason that you should be able to adjust it to keep your room at 78 degrees instead of 70 degrees. Especially if you are good about keeping the door closed. If you can maintain 75-78 degrees in your room, you'll have no problem with a tub set up.

You don't need to buy an expensive rack to insulate the tub. You can go to a hardware store and get 4 pieces of wood and make a cubby box for the tub. Sort of like a 1 level rack. Places like home depot or lowes will cut wood pieces to your specifics. My boyfriend is doing this with his snake right now because he runs his room fan and keeps the windows open constantly. It's cheap and easy to make. It's been working great so far.
