    Snake only sleeping on the warm side...is that a problem?

    my snake only seems to sleep on the warm side of his tank. ive never seen him in his other hide. he moves around the whole tank but he sleeps in that same hide. should i be worried? ive had him since Saturday. His first feeding was yesterday and it was successful. his temps are good. right now theyre 92(warm side) and 86.

    I wouldn't worry about him staying on the warm side of the enclosure. I have a few that never seem to be on the cool side and they are just fine. Once she is fully settled in she may change her hide preference. I would see about lowering the temp a little on the cool side if it is possible. 86 is a bit high. Normally I shoot for 80 degrees on the cool and 90 on the hot.

    Nothing to worry about. If he's uncomfortable, he'll move. Plus he just ate, so he's probably just digesting. All of my balls sit on their hot spot for days after eating.

    Right now he's too new to you, and his environment to start drawing any conclusions about his habit patterns. Once he's had time to settle in and you've had more time to observe him, you'll be able to tell when something isn't right.

    How and where are you measuring these temps?

    Ok this is a touch confusing is this your 'hot' (warm not really hot by human standards) that is changing between 91 an 83 or is it you cool side shifting from 86 to 83?

    So to be clear;

    What is your hot side temp IN the hide

    Cool side in the hide

    Ambient air temps (the temp of the air in the enclosure typically measured middle of the floor about 1-3 inches off the substrate.)?

    I agree, he's probably shy due to the new environment, smell ect.. give him some time and he'll be all over the place at night
