I would make sure the piece in the middle of the screen was untreated, to prevent any chance of the chemicals from the treated wood getting into my rats. so far they haven't been chewing on any wood, I give them empty paper towel and toilet paper spools for them to chew on, they also have plenty of food at all times to chew on..
