Only thing is how loud is the alarm. My incubator drops 3 degrees when door is open and goes up about 2 past set temp when i close it. Thats a good 15-20 mins of the alarm going off.

Looks good for those just getting in, but my herpstat i got 3 years ago works fine..

Personally I don't see the big difference between it and other t stats. Seems more marketing then a new product. The price is ok but to me it seems pretty much the same as a basic herpstat from several years ago.

The circuitry and software is much better, sure it does the same thing as older models, but it is safer, and has a few new features.

the Intro model isnt for racks, Its designed for incubator settings, I wouldnt use it on a rack at all.. It could be used for a rack but why use it for what its not intended for.

I plan on building a new incubator thats smaller to limit my production and getting the Pro to build into the side and getall the wires hidden.

They discontinued the pro, but the Herpstat 4 has all of the same features plus a safety relay.

Its a big difference. The new models use the new tech of the Herpstat 4. The units have 100 steps of control over the power. It will constantly fine tune to achieve the set temperature and adjust to things like the ambient changing. The previous generation Herpstats started to build on this but they were limited in the amount they could change. The code is much more complex. The High/Low alarms work like the Herpstat 4 where you set the temperature instead of setting an amount based of the target temperature. This makes it easier to understand in the menu and also handles the transistion from night to day temperatures better. The intro has a built in software clock as well so it can provide ramping and night/day transistions with the only downfall being that the clock doesn't retain time during a power off. Other than that its like getting all those feature for free as bypasses the cost of the hardware clock or night drop cables like the original Herpstat.

We had that in mind. There is a 30 minute timeout feature. If you enable it then when the temp drops below your Low Alarm setting it will mute the alarm for 30 minutes. If it comes back up to temp in that time then you're good to go otherwise it will beep. If it comes back up to temp and then you open the door again it will wait another 30 minutes from when it drops below your Low Alarm setting. So it should work for most. That same timeout protects you to an extent if the probe drops out of a cage. After 30 minutes of trying to reach the target temp its going to shut off and give the error.
