There are people on here that have your same problem. The "weird eaters." I don't know if it is something you can teach a snake to do due to its own natural predatory instinct but does it coil and not strike or does it just slither up and chow down? What and how do you feed?

That's odd. Maybe try a live mouse and see what he does. I mean if he knows its already dead then he may not care to kill something dead. I mean out in the wild snakes slither upon dead prey items and eat them so unless you first give him the challenge he may just may never strike. But he sure won't try to just walk up and eat something that's moving. Well I would at least hope.

Very good point. No need to even try if he is eating unless its some personal agenda you have. I wouldn't care but to each his/her own.

x3 why worry if hes eating?
Ive heard a bunch of other people on here say they have a snake or two that does this. Think of it this way: your snake is smart enough to realize his food is already dead so he has no reason to waste energy "killing" it.
