There is no reliable Way to determine a Het for any recessive traits but breeding the line out. I have personally seen snakes with all of the "Markers" for Pied produce nothing but Hets for three seasons before it was determined that it was just a normal however her sibling didn't have a single "Marker" and produced Beautiful Pieds every season.

not exactly true, if you breed a black pastel to a pied and get black pastels in the clutch they will be 100% guaranteed het pied. I just woke up so I may be reading this post wrong but... this would go for all recessive visuals bred to whatever, you will always know all the babies are het if bred to a visual recessive.
