    related?

So ive been seeing adds that have 2 yellowbellys for sale and they say not related in it. Is it bad to breed a male and female that came from the same clutch or does it not matter? If its bad what could happen if you did try to breed them?

Generally it is acceptable to breed related individuals but it is not recommended to do this for several generations as it may cause defects in the offspring. But breeding mother to son or siblings or father to daugther, etc is fine.

There is no reliable Way to determine a Het for any recessive traits but breeding the line out. I have personally seen snakes with all of the "Markers" for Pied produce nothing but Hets for three seasons before it was determined that it was just a normal however her sibling didn't have a single "Marker" and produced Beautiful Pieds every season.

I appreciate your input that helped. I would probably just breed the siblings just to be safe. Would you be able to post some pics of what pied markers look like just so i can get the feel for distinguishing them?

not exactly true, if you breed a black pastel to a pied and get black pastels in the clutch they will be 100% guaranteed het pied. I just woke up so I may be reading this post wrong but... this would go for all recessive visuals bred to whatever, you will always know all the babies are het if bred to a visual recessive.

As stated in another post, it won't really help unless you're looking to get snakes you aren't sure on and just want to dink around. You can know through breeding (visual x non-visual) if something is a het or not, or if you trust the seller you're buying from. But markers don't seem to make much of a difference. You can search the forum for threads on it, they'll have tons of pics (don't have any myself).
