It's just chicken meat, ground up. They don't put the "whole chicken" into a blender, that's false. It's just the same as buying "ground beef" or "ground turkey" when you get down to it.

I have no problem eating ground chicken, in McNuggets or patties or whatever. It'd be a bit hypocritical of me to eat ground turkey or ground pork, or "god forbid" hotdogs... and whine about ground chicken.

I don't think that it's so much the "ground" idea I object to, as the "nasty bits" part. I don't have any big objections to "muscle tissue" in there. (I have no idea why that is supposed to be gross because that is the part you want to eat)

I'm OK with wasting a small amount of chicken. I don't want those mysterious ugly little bits that cling to the underside of a chicken back being mechanically separated and mixed in with my food. In this house, the possum gets those. I am not going to encroach upon what he has claimed as his own.

Never ceases to amaze me at how people freak out over the silliest of things.

Yeah and that's why you would never eat a hamburger, or anything that contains ground beef like, meat loaf, a marinara meat sauce, chili.

    Apples and oranges.

I will eat ground chicken or ground turkey--the kind that comes ground, not in an all-inclusive and processed to hell paste.

I will not eat beef in a pasty mystery meat form. All I have to do is see "partially defatted beef fatty tissue" or "variety meats" somewhere on the ingredient list and it doesn't come home with me. Not even for the possum.

It doesn't phase me or freak me out or any of that. There are things that I consider to be somewhat nasty and I don't eat those things.

BTW, I'll eat a pile of chicken gizzards in a heartbeat. But I kinda like to be able to pretty much identify what I'm eating. With raw ground beef or even raw ground turkey or chicken you can see in the package if the color is correct and if it's a regular grind and not a paste, you can see if there are off color bits mixed in.

    To each his own.

This is one thing I HATE about being a chef... The argument of processed foods that McDonalds uses towards what we see as "real food" Either way, it's a choice, and to be honest, I think it's disgusting, BUT you can always tell your kids they're eating liver and gizzards. Actually sweetbreads sounds good right now..lol

To this.. I'd rather just have a sautéed airline breast. Or if I'm in the mood some coq au vin...
