    if it continues, ill have it examined. i didnt shake out the news paper, i threw it out. but i did look closely and didnt see anything at all.

    I think everyone is over thinking this one. Urates take on all kinds of different colors and forms not just white. I wouldn't worry one bit. I have seen many an ugly urate in my time. When you use newspaper you see all the details. I have seen this many many times, nothing to worry about.

    but its not just color. they are raised bumps.. like ON the urate

    I too have seen this with my snakes from time to time. I wouldn't worry about it.

    Yeah, I had this happen once. I looked at it, poked it, put it in a tupperware and kept it for a week to see if it would do anything. Nothing happened. Said snake hasn't passed a similar one since. I figured it was possibly something on the rat I had fed, or something the rat had eaten that wasn't normal. None of my other snakes have done it either.

    But I do second the distilled water, it does take an element of confusion out. I also recommend that you take the water dish - and if possible - boil the whole thing for a good 10 minutes or so. and let it cool on its own. I do this whenever something strange comes up, or just change out the dish if it isn't boilable.
