This is what concerns me about buying from peps I don't know or trust. If you are questioning if it is a black pastel you are there fore questioning who you bought it from. I have a hard time putting trust in people but I will email and chat with them for awhile before I make my decision on purchasing said animal. (I wish there were better local shows) If you trust the breeder then it most likely is a low grade black pastel. I'll post a pic of my black pastel she isn't the best example either but you can see it in her.

Doesn't look like it to me! But pictures don't always do a snake justice. Here is a pict. of mine, although he is younger, you can see the markings you where referring to.

Not to steal the thread but your boy is an awesome example. That rich dark colouring on him is sweet. My girl is really light compared to him, and the massive squiggles on him make him look sick.

    Thanks for your comments..

So, more people said that she's not a black pastel than she is

We need to realize that casually saying "not a black pastel" is calling to question the integrity of the breeder that produced her and sold her. We don't know how much of a standout this animal was compared to others in the clutch that maybe weren't Black Pastels. She might even have been sired by a Super. We don't know that. I'll bet as a hatchling she looked much more like the pictures that most of you are used to seeing. If I were looking for a sub-adult Black Pastel I would definitely consider purchasing that animal and I would not suspect her to be a misrepresented normal.

Actually I bought this girl from a wholeseller that got stuff from other seller, maybe there's something happened on the sell-order-buy-shipment-etc. process. I don't blame anyone in this, as it can happened on the wholesale more easily.
I can just complaint to the seller I bought this girl from, if she's indeed not a black pastel

    Thanks again for all comments.
If there's any other opinion, it will be very appreciated.

Don't count her out. She very well could be a Black Pastel. She looks like one to me, although low grade she still has the look.

    Re: Black Pastel or not?

    Like stated, she could be a low quality. I have a VERY browned out pastel that people always say is a normal and was actually caught in the middle of a "it's this morph" fight when I got him in Tinley. -_-;

Here is a pic of him during shed. (this was about a month ago, he's beginning to lighten but I doubt he'll even be good quality, still i love his personality.)

My point to this? not EVERY animal is top quality, though it still is possible for some breeders to make mistakes.

My opinion? she's a lesser quality Black Pastel, but still looks awesome.

Nobody is calling anyone's integrity into question here. The OP never even said where they got the snake. For all we know it was purchased on Craigslist from somebody who got it at a pet store.

With that said, it doesn't look like a black pastel to me, either.

Honestly if you have another breeder local I would ask if they could take a look. Seeing an animal in person can help determine better on low grade morphs. I saw a Sugar the other night that you wouldn't believe was one in pictures. Yet it is infact one so don't count her out yet. Questioning the seller to confirm the records isn't a bad idea either.

Like I've stated IMO she doesn't look like one to me but you can always breed her when she's older and prove her out that way... I'm suprised no one else has mentioned this. Lol or she could very well be just a really gorgeous dinker.

I agree with this. I would keep her and breed her so even if she turns out not to be one her genetics may enhance the babies looks.
