Re: HUGE prey switch! How I did it..

I wish I could do this with my pastel girl, but ASFs are irritatingly illegal where I live.

I've used the piggybacking technique to switch from asfs and mice to norways with success as well. Glad it worked for you! We have acinnamon het pied girl that switched back to asfs for months with the previous owner. We gave her an asf her first meal with us, then took a small norway and covered it in asf bedding for 10 minutes to scent it.. slammed that.. and is now eating unscented norways. Good luck with your male, hope he is just as cooperative

    Thanks!

I've tried scenting and it hasn't worked for me but I might try that with my big wildtype het. female. Last time I tried to piggyback with her she fought it. Thanks for the suggestion!!

You can. It's actually something that was recommended by a vet to me for one of my girls that will only eat live. She was memorably unhappy with my attempts to put my hand near her head while she was eating, though.

Powerfeeding and IBD are two of the most overused and misappropriated words on bp.net

If I piggy 2 med rats to my 3000 gram female..i'm not powerfeeding. This is a good idea i wish i would have knows of earlier. I've had my struggles with mousers...
