For other illnesses like RIs, if they are doing the injections you'll get charged the fee to see the animal every time you go, if you choose to do the injections then you'd just pay for the initial visit and then for the medication. Always leave room for follow-up exams too. Knock on wood, I haven't had any illness yet so I can't be too much help
Off topic but do you use Dr. Mertz "The Odd Pet Vet?" That's my go-to at the moment, though I haven't had to go-to yet. Pls knock wood for me too.

No, I have been going to Norton Animal Hospital since it's so close by, just for fecals and the such. I think if anything was seriously wrong with my reptiles though I'd probably find a better vet further away...I don't really trust them for anything serious

Just out of curiosity, do any of you take your snakes in for yearly checkups? Just incase? Is that recommended, or is the stress of going to the vet not worth it unless there is a real problem? (I know that is true of me and doctor's appointments. I don't go unless I'm dying, but I don't want to compromise my snake's health with my own arguably unwise avoidance of medical treatment.)

For a snake, I would recommend a savings of $200-300 per snake for your basic stuff and general, but not too serious, illnesses and accidents. If you ever wind up with an emergency though, I suggest applying for Care Credit (apply ahead of time - before an emergency arises). This is a wonderful tool and has saved my butt several times. It is a credit card with deferred interest that is used for medical expenses. Most vets accept it although you'd have to speak to your own vet to be sure. And you can even use it for yourself! I have lots of animals (I raise German Shepherds and I have a couple of horses too) so its been a God-send for me with any animal related emergency.
