Wow! Someone is fired up! Creates a troll account and then rants with such emotion you can almost see the blood and tears through the typed words! Lol! Mods should merge that account with whoever it belongs to so we can bring them out of hiding. Vbulletin has tools that let you find duplicate accounts.

^ I was thinking about how easily people are throwing around the word "troll" lately. It's kind of as annoying as the accused "troll".

Anyways, I'm truely thankful for recently visiting a disgustingly poor country. It really, really put things into perspective for me.

I live in a craphole. I really do. A large part of the roof above my living room and an even larger portion of the ceiling of my living room caved in about a month ago and by looking up you were able to see the blue sky above. It was like that for a while, and eventually got patched up.
The hardwood floors have about 10% of the original varnish left. The basement has nasty carpet (from the 1960s I'm sure) and the laundry room is basically a poorly carved out bomb shelter. The walls are all scratched/banged up, and don't even get me started on the kitchen or bathroom! However, it's the best I can do, as a student.

I have a home. I am going to school. I have clothes. I have food to eat (most weeks - I've been previously scraping money for that trip), I had enough money to leave my country and visit others, and I have financial support.

There is so much that I have, that so many others don't. I'm not trying to take away your right to be upset or complain, I just have such a different perspective on life because of this little trip.
I'm thankful I don't live in one of these:

which are extremely typical of the country I am referring to. These, are actually a lot larger and more advanced than a lot that I saw (these actually have doors and all walls).

I'm not trying to be preachy, but now whenever I pity myself for my living conditions, I will have real memories of real people who live with what they have, and may wish for more, but they make it work.

I was concerned because a fairly nonchalant topic got insanely personal and nasty, and was hoping to maybe encourage people to calm down. Troll simply came up because it was a brand new account, the first post being in the same grammatical pattern and emotion as one of the participating parties. I'm no mod, just trying to be helpful. I can see now it isn't doing much but flaming things up, so I'll take my leave.

All this "be thankful" stuff is great, but being thankful won't get you a raise...or a better job.

To the OP...have you applied to any other jobs? Just because you're currently employed doesn't mean you can't still be looking for something better. I'd check out some openings and send out some resumes. If you find another company that is interested in you and floats you an offer, it makes it much easier to tell your current employer to pack sand if he doesn't treat you better...you have valuable skills...don't let him hose you...

Thank you...I'm really not a "troll"...it's amazing how people can jump to conclusions so quicky--and fyi, calling someone a troll is likely not something that would deflate or calm someone, it's kind of obnoxious and in this case, incorrect...and lol "Seriously. Reminds me of when religous folk start in with the name calling, etc...it's like hello, don't you see the irony? I have several teachers in my family, so I know, I know, you work at home blah blah blah. I know. But are you working today, yesterday...the day before? Maybe at home, but I doubt at school. I would LOVE to wear my pink bunny slippers, working while drinking tea and simultaneously watching an NCIS (one I'm in?). But not a lot of people get to do that. So maybe those who are teachers should "just be thankful" instead of immediately starting on "we don't get all summer off, blah blah". We know. We heard.

And yes, I agree, it is good to be grateful. Heck, I wish I could visit some less-fortunate third world country...unfortunately, I can't afford that.
And yes, I've considered getting another job, but with the economy what it is on Long Island, I am considered lucky to have what I have.
Still, when one works hard they are entited to fee they deserve proper compensation....and when one is posting on a forum, they are meant to voice their opinion (I think).
The pact mentality sure does kick in quick, no?
