Also if you get all the way down to Sarasota you can visit the Ringling Mansion and Circus Museum/Art Museum. That has to be one of the coolest places I've ever been.

If you are into plants, see if you can visit Tropiflora. I don't know if they are open to the public all the time or just during events. Everyone in the dart frog hobby covets their plants.

Florida is a great place to visit/Live. Some people say different but mainly because where they lived, And the social surroundings they were in IMO. I live in Orlando and have lived in Tampa... Orlando is great for tourist, Tampa is where your going to find the mom and pop eateries and such.
Theres everything in Orlando. Holyland, IOA, US, Harry potter, Disney and all they offer 4 major parks and all they little things to do on their properties. Dinner shows, interaction dinners, hot air ballon rides, kennedy space camp, titanic museum, Ect.... We have alot of reptile stores, shows, you will pass some on the way to Tampa if you drive.
In Tampa... I would bring the boat and head a few miles out with a full cooler, great music, And lots of bait. But thats me. They have a few good eateries that even allow you to pull your boat right to the dock. Im pretty sure they have tours in Tampa that go hiking to look for snakes and such... so you could have fun while your friend spots birds and such lol. Just do google such for the cities you will be in and see what the city sites offer for tourists.
I love FL its the only place I know of I can drive a few hours and hit something nuts like fantasy fest, scuba dive ship wrecks, fish some insane game fish, you can catch boa's and pythons in the wild, see aligators in every other lake pretty much, try food from south america, then 2 blocks up have real asian food and still have good southren food. Fish and race year long. You can go from history like ST. augustine, to modern like down in Miami or here in Orlando.

I wished this would happen then we wouldnt have so many old retired people coming down and causing accidents! Congestion is a major problem in winter time with all these slow drivers.
