It is bad, but like others said, it's not surprising. It's really sickening when you look at your state laws regarding pet stores and animal care. In Iowa the only thing that has to be done is food and water, the husbandry/cages/cleanliness/vet care etc doesn't matter.

Having had a conversation with a young person, about the age of many of you I suspect, and having had a bunch of hours stacked one upon another during my drives this weekend, I had time to ponder.

I must retract my previous statement that anyone who goes to peta or hsus is stupid. Gullible would be a better word. Or uninformed. Ignorant, without a negative connotation, even. But stupid was harsh.

Sometimes I forget that I've been doing this for longer than most of you have been alive. You hang around long enough, ya learn stuff. And I'm not much for coddling.

So, while I totally stand behind all else that I've said, that was a tad over board.

But think people. Ask what benefit comes to ANY source of information if you believe it, and then what does that benefit. Don't blindly accept ANY one source. Verify yourself. Ask around. Poke about the web. There's a LOT out there. And don't let some slide just because you think they're good or actually were good in the past. Question, verify, learn and educate.

Has anyone considered that that sickly looking Discus was a rescue or was dumped on the store? I used to do fish in a big way, had a service company and all. Well intentioned people do horrible things without knowing.

Anyway, question and verify, don't just accept at face value.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

What, may I ask, have you been doing longer then most of us have been alive? and... Do you realize how insulting your comments are? I wonder what gives you the "Right" to call anyone names at all? What makes you the expert to listen to? If you have some kind of experience that would benefit this topic then please share. Otherwise, give it a rest already. We get it! You don't aprove of the action taken! So what! Why don't you produce some of the "Facts" you keep talking about that the rest of us don't know.

I read the news link you posted and didn't find one sentence about snakes in there. The only comment made that had anything to do with herping was the narrator saying she had to remind the protesters that banning all exotics meant including ferrets and chinchilas. Big stretch there!

Just came across this link in another thread. Thought it might be interesting considering the nature of this thread. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/...as-house-pets/ I found the voting results comforting.

    Hey tress, piss off.

To you, I owe nothing. If you don't like what I say or how I say it, use the ignore feature. I know I do with folks like you.

Only because we did mass voting to turn the tide. Also, could you kindly set up your quotes properly? It's frustrating to try and figure out who you're talking to when you've quoted multiple people.
