first time caramels
this will be my first time breeding balls and i decided on caramels and pied, im starting with 100% hets on all of them 1.2 100% het caramel and hypo and 1.1 100% het pied and maybe it im lucky ill get a caramel albino female but i fell in love with caramel glows. i know theres alot about kinking but it seems that if you make sure that your breeding different lines your chance is less. im learning but if your thinking pastels go for it there awesome

Sorry, I stand corrected on the bee X normal. I guess I was a little to tired to be posting genetics = S. The most important thing tho is to find out what you like and work with that. I love pieds so I am working with hets for now.

I would look for a good deal on a female pastel with some size. When you get her and she is almost to breeding size then you can look for a male. Good deals are out there, you just have to be patient. Breeder size bees and pewters come up all the time and have some decent prices too! You could also post an ad looking for a male, some breeders dont post everyhitng they have for sale but if they have a bee that is being replaced they might be happy to sell him to you. Good luck whatever route you take.

I'm pretty sure you'd get the same results....
Either way, why don't you try just owning one first and see if it's for you. They're beautiful snakes but not everyone likes to care for them.

is this enough?
Just a thought, instead of spending all the money on racks and what not just buy you a couple of tubs from Walmart and just pick up your heat and thermostat from the show. And just spend the rest on a couple really nice female hatchling combos. Wait til next year and get a male and build a rack during the summer.

Recessives usually aren't the best to start out with due to the hets you will have to deal with. It takes time, especially when only dealing with heterozygous animals, there is no guarantee you will produce a visual in your first clutch. Co-doms are usually the best bet. But breed what you like! Don't listen to me! Just some food for thought. lol
