Most of mine are are f/t rats. My kids' baby balls are still on f/t mice, but only until they finish off the bag I have then I'll be slowly making the switch to rats. I have one that's new and she's on live mice until she's better acclimated, then I'll make the switch to f/t. One of my burms gets live every once in a while because she's a bit of a problem feeder and I can get her to only eat live during shed.
*I* prefer f/t at this time because it's more cost effective to me plus I don't have the extra space to breed my own feeders. But if my animals will only take live that's what they get. I'm not going to let them miss a meal just because I want them to eat one thing and they want another.
However, when we move in the spring, I'm going to attempt breeding rats and rabbits (forward thinking for when my burms get bigger). Not sure if I'll be sticking to f/t then by freezing them myself or giving them fresh p/k (when prey is large enough to put up a good fight, I'd rather p/k or f/t).
