I think I will get some and just have them shipped to my mom's house so they are there waiting for me in a few days.

They get very hot I would only keep them as an emergency and just use the cars heater for the trip wear a short sleeved shirt if you are good in that the snake will be too. Take the hand armers if the car breaks down or something. Remember protect the snake from the AIR during transfer to and from the car cool air can shock the lungs and cause all kinds of issues. (RI)

Thank you, yes, I have heard that. I planned on pre-warming the car, and closing the lid of the tub and wrapping the whole tub in a blanket for the walk to and from the car. I have also asked my mom to turn the heat up a little in the house that afternoon before we get there, just til I get the UTH on the viv back up and running. I am being very obsessive, but I think you kind of have to be with these things

You can pick up the shipping heat packs on Ebay. They're not that expensive. Having extras on hand for emergencies is an excellent idea. I use 72 hour heat packs for shipping--the peace of mind is worth the slight extra expense.
(Tip on using 72 hour heat packs--open them the night before you ship, so the pack can age out and spike its temperature before you put it in the box, otherwise it may shoot the temperature up too high, as it takes longer for 72 hour packs to spike than 40 hour packs do).
