This guy worries me a little

So I posted a while back about some alligators being flown in from PA to be treated by my reptile vet. This is pretty big local news here, I mean come on how often will you see a gator in WI.

What worries me is some of the comments the owner makes. He keeps these alligators in a house he bought just for them. Okay, I can handle that. He seems to know how to work with gators, another point to him. The downside is he seems okay with the thought of being on a reality tv show.

Sounds like he was joking, probably amused by the local News making such a fuss. Even if he was on a reality show, it's not a GIVEN that it would be bad, especially since he's not keeping the gators in a home with small kids, etc. We shouldn't expect that no reptile owners will ever be on TV shows, especially since we continually want to say our pets are no different than cats or dogs. So we shouldn't really push to HIDE that reptiles are kept as pets.

With any luck though, he was joking. I doubt there would be a show dedicated to altering houses to have alligators in them. I would love to see one of the home shows have a minor side about building a "in wall" display for someone's pet snake or geckos. That would look awesome on TV, would be difficult to spin into "omg ban exotics!" or "HOARDERS with millions of abused pets!". Just a single snake or a couple geckos as part of the house alterations. Would be neat.

I hope so too, but I know it cost him a ton of money to get the gators out here and the medical expense are high. He and the spartan animal hospital actually made t-shirts with the gators on them to try to make a little more money.

I honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on some animal planet show.

No good will come on our behalf for participating in or supporting the plague that is modern "Reality TV". Local fairs, shows, events, etc are a different story.
