@MasonC2k - You can say that again! I am so lost, still.

I agree, it's the snake that suffers and the idiot who kept it will be given expensive antivenin that could have been used to help someone who actually needed it, like a child who didn't know better and found the snake in the yard, or a hiker who didn't watch their step. Selfish.

I am from northern California, so we don't have moccasins, but the saying where I live is "nothing in these hills but rocks, rattlesnakes and republicans" which is pretty accurate. People just love to kill the rattlers. The excuse I hear is "I kill any rattler I see so they don't bite my dogs or my kids." Humans are so funny. We move out of the city to be close to nature, and then when nature gets too close, we start slaughtering it. If I ever have a dog, I will either A) supervise it in the yard, or B) spring for the vet bill after a bite because that is what a responsible pet owner does. You don't punish the snake for defending itself, you treat the bite and move on. As far as children, mine will be taught to appreciate and respect nature and observe venomous snakes from a distance and ball pythons from the couch.

Sadly modern science still saves a lot of them. I know that sounds harsh, but you can't deny there is truth in it. Modern science is good, don't get me wrong, I just think that sometimes, we should leave Darwin to his antics =)

That's Texas for you. A lot of these men (sometimes women) think they're big and bad. They never learn.

Poor snake. A bucket? Poor baby, especially since the idiot in question is considering keeping it.

Baylor is an excellent school, but it is college, which is never entirely pleasant.
I'm originally from Washington state, but some parts of Texas aren't too bad. I reside in College Station, which is decent, considering it's mainly the A&M and suburbia. You'll eventually start saying y'all.

Honestly i hope he gets tagged for his stupidity and thinking he can care for a venomous snake when he has no experience with snakes at all. I hope that snake is released back into the wild.

I plan on caring for a venomous buddy one day but i will make sure to take classes and get my liscense first.

Luckily the clown thinks a bucket and a rock will contain a snake.. More than likely he was making it all up to impress those within earshot though. Even if it was true he probably put a bucket on top of one of the multitude of harmless species ya'll have over there in Texas. Around these parts any and all snakes are either "moccasins" or "rattlers" and everyone is an expert on how best to dispatch them and why they deserve no alternative fate. I just try to educate when I can and hope it doesn't always fall on deaf ears - the patience it requires to be a snake lover sometimes..
