Ball Python Problems

Hey guys I got my ball python two weeks ago and he still has not fed. I also noticed his stomach taking a pinkish tint and i know that is common when a snake is about to shed but it has been that way for a week. What should I do now?

are the eyes getting cloudy? sometimes mine will have pink belly for awhile before he progresses to blueing

how are the conditions in the enclosure? is it wet? im pretty sure (but not certain) that pink belly can be a sign of scale rot/belly rot, if anyone can clarify this, please do

Keep offering every week, sometimes they take a bit to settle in. What is your set-up like? Temps? A picture of the belly could be helpful, but you are right it can go pinkish before a shed.

How often are you "bothering" it?
If I have a picky eater, I usually leave it completely alone for 2 weeks. Then once that time is up, I offer it food.
It may not work for you, but that has worked for me a few times.
Or since an all over pink belly is a good sign of a shed, just leave it alone until it sheds, then try offering food.

If your temps/humidity are right, he/she may just still be settling in. However, also keep in mind that during this time of year, when it starts to get cold, many BPs will stop eating for lengthier periods of time. As long as he is not losing weight and isn't looking skinny, you should be okay. My young male has gone as long as four months around this time of year without eating. He did that last winter, and then had another fast the past few months. He FINALLY ate for me last weekend. It's not uncommon in BPs, especially if they are about to go into shed. Watch him for the next few days and if he "blues" then leave him be until he finishes shedding, then offer food like ^ said.
