this is what I did when i kept my ball python in a tank. However you need to make sure he is using it especially when he when he's about to shed, if he isn't try putting it on the warm side. Also spray down the enclosure at least twice a day when he is going into shed and in the his blue phase this will help bump up the hole enclosures humidity. I found that when i didn't have the humidity box and didn't spray the enclosure the snake would get sheds stuck on and his eye caps wouldn't come off which can lead to your snake to eating because he can't see (fyi this was wwhen i didn't know much about bps and that was my first one) Since then I have switched to a rack and don't have humidity issues anymore. hope this helps good luck
