What really bothers me is when I hear the latest big "artist" come out with a "new song" that is just a remix of a classic song written by another band that they pieced together with some emotionless rapping or overdone R&B moaning recorded over it. Then they slap their thug name on it, have the media cram it down our throats and they are suddenly talented? I don't think so!

But, I don't care what someone else listens to. I just don't see what is so special about programing a computer.
I used to also be against electronic music for this reason. However, anybody can also pick up a guitar and play, that doesn't make it GOOD music. There are producers out there making amazing songs with computers and they are NOT using "pre-made" sound clips. I don't think there are any real producers out there making electronic music that is composed of nothing but "pre-made" sound clips. I agree that there is something to be said for playing a real instrument, but please do not just write these artists off because you can't see what they are doing. Many of them have been in bands and come from musical backgrounds and I promise you using some of these programs to create the stuff they do is not as easy as it sounds.

And what is the difference between a remix and a band covering another bands song?

The reason electronic gets such a bad rep is because its so easy for anybody to attempt to do it, They don't have to go buy an instrument to try it out. There are soooo many bad remixes like the ones you mentioned ("...emotionless rapping or overdone R&B moaning recorded over it.") on youtube and i hate it. However there are true artists out there making electronic music that I couldn't dream of making. (This is also coming from somebody that plays bass/guitar, and has for some time, if that means anything)
