Some hatchlings will eat rats right off but many will need a mouse or asf fuzzy to start off with.
About 50% of our hatchlings started on rats but the rest needed a few meals of asf's or mice to get going before switching to rat fuzzies.
Good luck!
wow thanks for the advise! let me try that... when will i be worried that it is not eating? 2 weeks?
Huh, usually locally-bred snakes settle in quicker than shipped snakes. But I guess not always! The fact that she's not eating yet suggests she's still stressed.
If she's still striking in a week, well, you may just have a nippy baby. Once in a while you get a hatchling with a little extra "personality", you know? But even those will calm down as they mature.
