Rap pup question
What can I do with a live rat pup if I offer it to my BP and he doesn't want it? Can I hold on to it and try the next night? Please advise Thanks

Rat pups to survive need to be bottle fed. I was given the option to either kill it (freezer ), take it back to the store, or keep it. I kept it, bottle fed it every 3-4 hours until he weaned, and that's how I ended up with my pet rat cleverly named Lucky lol.

Re: Rap pup question
I have just inherited a live little rat pup myself that I am feeding to keep alive because my pastel refused it. I have fallen totally in love with this baby and now I am keeping it!

we had a pet rat once (it was a small size).. my 4 year old daughter named her Jelly. She was carrying her around that house and my daughter had to go potty. so she sets the rat down goes potty and "WHERE DID JELLY GO" at the top of her lungs...... we had a rat lost in the house for 3 days. My girlfriend found her at 3am while we were laying in bed and Jelly BIT her finger. Jelly was going to be food but i kept forgetting to feed her off. Jelly had her second litter yesterday and is now a great breeder.

Re: Rap pup question
I never thought I could love a rat so much, lol. When this little one is a few weeks older and weaned I will be getting a friend for him or her. I still can't tell the sex of the rat, lol.

I think my pastel will accept it without a problem. My wife just called me at work and told me he was on the prowl. So I think he is hungry. I'm going to grab him a rat pup when I get home in a couple hours.

Odd, our pet rats get free roam over the house when we are home and they do not run away like a hamster. In fact, they rarely leave us alone. Provided you properly socialize them of course. They are also litter box trained (only poop/pee in their cage).
