That's how "morphs" get started... you find one with what looks like it might be a mutation and you attempt to reproduce it, if it reproduces, you've got a "morph".
I find it odd that people check their Catalog of Official Known Morphs and say, "that's just an odd-looking normal".
Where do we think the "accepted" morphs come from? Some breeder that recognizes that this odd-looking normal could be a mutation and plays around with breeding it to see what happens.
(Whether the buying public thinks it's a mutation worth paying money for is a different story, of course.)
