I helped him decorate and move in over the weekend, and decided to take a video of his exploration process... He wore himself out tasting every single inch of the entire enclosure, but made it back out to the entrance to say "dude... this is totally awesome!" - before finally retiring for the night in his new rock hide.

Norman is such a mellow / friendly little baby. His step-sister lives in the condo beside him - and she has basically locked herself in the first hide she found and has been in there every since. Boo.

May I ask what kind of enclosure you're using?
I'm interested in switching off of aquariums and would love something like that.

It is an Animal Plastics T8 cage - divided in two. My 2 ball pythons live in the top one, and my two corns live in the bottom one.

It has been modified with extra adjustable ventilation and halogen lights which are attached to timers for morning and afternoon basking spots.

NP... I decided to go with the sliding glass doors - just because they seemed convenient and were on sale.

With this setup, I am also dabbling in a naturalistic environment. I am going to try and achieve a BSS (Bioactive Substrate System). I have a small little layer of aquarium pebbles below about 2-3 inches of peat-moss / coconut fiber mix - with a top layer of repti-bark because my BPs really seem to like the repti-bark.

The idea behind a BSS is that you obtain a bioactive system which is beneficial and helps in the cleaning process - i.e. you don't have to clean the cage out nearly as often - as the bacteria helps keep fungi / mold under control. We'll see how it goes...

Very nice job . I think you made the right decision on the sliding doors. Since you are using one tank with a divider, going with the drop down door would have meant that you would have always been opening two enclosures at a time. Definitely keep us updated on how the bio substrate is working out...
