I would use the 10-15% of body weight thing. My BP just hit 300 and has been pounding weaned rats for a while.

yup 10 to 15% at least until they hit over the 1200gm mark then I drop back some about 6-8% range. (65-90gm rats or so)

I agree. I don't feed my adult BP anything larger than rats in the 70-90 gram range.

I get my f/t from MICE DIRECT and they range their rat weanlings from 29.1 to 44g. Right now the biggest f/t weanling has been 37g he has taken with no problem at all. The average size he has been taking is approximately 32g.

Re: Please share your knowledge....
my girl only takes live & really prefers the smaller of the choices i've given her. meaning she's refused one but accepted a smaller one right after. that was back when i was buying multiple rats for the month but then i ended up having the problem with 1 or 2 growing too big by the end of that month so now i just buy 1 rat on feeding day. also we've consistantly had problems with defensive weaned/small rats so now i'm having to buy pups, either with their eyes still closed or just opened but once they're fully weaned i've seen more & more of them becoming defensive once they realize their predicament...
i wish that my girl would just take f/t or even pre-killed but she seems to be one of those that refuses to eat something they didnt kill.
i'm gonna feed my girl a few more pups & then slowly work up to weaning, then try the fully weaned ones again but if i have another aggressive/defensive rat situation i'm gonna stick to getting pups not yet weaned & if my girl ever decides she wants 2 in a feeding i'll do that but i'm getting tired of her getting scared for 3 weeks cuz a stupid rat got crazy with her, its happened twice now, no more .
