it's more in the presentation. Videos like this present the idea that it's easy to just slice the eggs open and pull the snakes out, and to "newcomers" to the breeding scene, can give a false impression of how to properly do what he's doing in the video. I know it is everybody's personal responsibility to do research on proper techniques, but it would be nice if there were videos with a disclaimer or a more in depth explanation about the techniques that do seem more 'rough' to the less experienced. Being in the 'public eye' of snake breeding puts some level of responsibility on the more experienced, when it comes to the health and safety of another living creature.

I never said anything about cutting the eggs. Cutting the eggs has an actual function of helping the snakes exit on their own terms, without risk of drowning. I also never said he doesn't know what he's talking about, nor that he doesn't produce quality snakes. All of my posts were describing what seems and comes across as lack of care - and yes, this is due partially to lack of experience, but also because I've seen plenty of other videos and talked to other breeders who do have lots of experience, that go through a lot of effort to ensure the health/safety of their babies.

Again, clarifying, never said he doesn't know what he's doing, but simply as MasonC2k stated, it's more in the presentation. If this is a forum about learning and exploring the husbandry requirements of snakes/ball pythons, these "more experienced" breeders should be taking the time to explain why this practice is OK and not using the "you are wrong because you're ignorant and I'm right because I say so" approach. These are emotional responses to a video that shows techniques that even other established breeders don't necessarily practice, and just because somebody "has more internet experience than real life experience" does not invalidate an emotional reaction. It is fine to defend prehistoric pets, or anybody you feel is being wrongfully judged, but do so in a way that is informative and not just "because I know more than you".

Just because the animals are hardier than expected and seem to come out fine does not inherently make it right. Because people disagree with it doesn't make it wrong. At the same time, it is not wrong for people to feel uncomfortable or disagree with the practice just because some people haven't seen any negative consequences.

While I agree that those with experience should take the time to educate, the whole process works a lot better when those who are not experienced learn to not pass judgment or dole our advice on things they are unfamiliar with.

I suck at all things football, even though I was raised in a family that loves it. Still it made me laugh. My biggest issue I seem to be facing is the barrier of misinterpretation through text on the internet. I'm attempting to convey both sides, but admittedly, I ocassionally suck at communicating. Arguing is not my preference nor my forte, especially in a topic like this where I don't much care either way of the opinions on either side.

I did subscribe to his videos... He has alot of nice stuff.... The razor blade, finger, ect... Are a bit concerning but he must know what he is doing... He does have good reasoning for it... I think I heard him say he lost hatchlings from drowning in the egg?
