    I looked again and I have a 15 watt bulb in a 10 gallon tank....it get the temp up to 80...is this safe?

    Yes, I have the hot side with the uth set on 92.

    sorry for the late reply..the thermostat that i ordered for the heat lamp just arrived today..i made a mistake on my post..the bulb that i have is a 100 watt..now i have the cool side around 80-85 and the hot side around 88-94..is that ok?

    From what you've given, it sounds perfect. Just so long as you have the rest of the proper husbandry(multiple hides, humidity taken care of, etc) you'll be fine. I do think a 6 degree variance on the hot end is a bit inconsistent, so if possible try to keep it 1-2, maybe 3 degrees within its high and low. That's the problem with rheostats; you need to turn it ever so slightly more or less to get those precise temps.

    i was just worried you had 150w blasting on your snake, but 100 isnt nearly as bad, and the temps are fine, if you start having humidity problems with the heat lamp, cover your screen in foil, and that'll help. just make sure to re-set your tstat, since this will hold the temps alot better, and it can get really high again
