BP Burrowing in her substrate shortly after feeding?

Today was my girls first time eating a Medium size mouse.(Currently thickening her up enough to start feeding her small rats) She's About 8 or 9 months old and Ive never seen this kind of behavior before. Normally after a meal she will go into her warm hide, or bask on top of it while she's digesting depending on how much she wants to be hidden. But today after her meal she spent about 5 minutes on the cooler end of her enclosure sitting around her water dish. Then went between her two hides for a little. Basked for maybe five minutes then started burrowing in her substrate. I checked temps to make sure she was comfortable. On top of her hide is 89, inside her hide is 85, her cool hide is 75.

Heres a picture of her burrowing(This isnt her usual warm hide. Her other one broke, so I made a makeshift one for her to use until I fix the old one. Shes been happily using her new one for about a week.) Is this a normal behavior? Or should I look a little bit more in depth at her husbandry. Normally after a meal she doesnt really want to be out and about, but then again she is a very bold snake. Not very fearful at all.


She was only burrowing for a few minutes and was very active and flicking her tongue as she did so. I just checked back on her and she at some point went back to her warm hide.

She's needs something much shorter for a hide. That box is too tall for her to feel secure - she is probably burrowing to hide under the substrate for that reason.

Her other hide suits her much better. It has a lower ceiling and has less open spots. Ill have to work faster on fixing it XD Its made from Bamboo, so ive been dragging my feet on remaking the wall. Its a little labor intensive. but if you think thats whats bothering her Ill get right on it = P

In the short term, you could just get a small plastic flower pot saucer or small bowl. Flip it upside down, cut/solder an entrance, and voila! Not as pretty as bamboo, but a good and cheap temporary fix.

Yep. My snakes hides are just plastic bowls upside down with an entrance and they looooooooove em.

Okay, I replaced it with a solid colored plastic bowl with a circle cut out for an Entrance. I started working on her old hide again, but I decided to just scrap it. Its something I can do much better, and she'll be moving to a bigger tank before too terribly long anyway. Ill make her a better one. This is is much cozier for the time being.
