Ranco thermostats have a great reputation but I can't speak from personal experience. I know several breeders/owners have Ranco thermostats and have great luck with them. I would steer clear of a Helix, personally. Nothing wrong with them, just not the top of the line quality from my experience and a bit of a pain to use as far as setting the temps and what features they offer. I'm currently using a Herpstat II with great luck and would highly recommend one, depending on what you're requirements are.

Ranco, Johnson Controls and Herpstat (Spyder Robotics) are all excellent products for thermostats. Whatever you do, don't skimp on buying a quality one of those. You can get by with a less-than-stellar rack system but your heat control is a big priority. Just my two cents, good luck with whatever you pick! Make sure to post some pics once you get it set up, lol!

Half the reason I bought from them was that they're in Iowa, lol! That and they're great to deal with and after having received the rack I ordered, they make a top-notch quality product.

i looked into animal plastics and some of the others talked about and decided ill be getting one from them. price seems pretty good for me and i can just take a 2 hr drive to pick it up instead of having to wait for it to come in.

Apparently boaphile is all included, even customs fees, to ship to NS. I'll probably contact them regardless, just to make sure. But that's pretty much the deciding factor for me, if it is all inclusive to canada. Plus I love that they are all wired and set to go.

cage - boaphile - own 6 of them keeps heat and humidity nicely..also very easy to clean

thermostat - I use ranco thermostats right now. they are great never had a problem with them..had for years, but am looking into proportional thermostats now and in the tiny bit of research i have done I would steer clear of helix

Yeah I expect to get burned with some kind of charges, that's typical.

+1 Call Boaphile you will get answers to your shipping concerns. They usually always answer and do not mind questions.

    Re: Premade snake rack

I've been looking at racks for quite a while and personally Freedom Breeder looks like hands down the best made. They aren't cheap by any means but they seem to be built like a freaking tank. I'm probably going to bite the bullet and upgrade my melamine racks with those soon but going with Visions for hatchling racks. If they're good enough for VPI's hatchlings, I think they'll do for mine but I really want the heavy duty stuff for the adults.
