mom and babies question

I raise tubs of 1.3, never separate. Have done colonies of 1.12 in the past in large throughs with no problems.
Been raising them this way for a couple of decades.

I have right now two mothers and a male in a cement tub with out problems and three and four mothers no male in 105qt tubs with no problems . Were the babies all alive, I have had mothers eat still born or non feeding/dieing babies on occasion

Were they in tight quarters?

How long is temporary?

Space may have been your reason for the cannibalizing. Sometimes, if there are too many rodents in tight quarters they will kill the weakest to make room. Illness, danger, and nutrition can also prompt a rodents to eat babies. Rats typically wont kill them from handling, but if the mother or any of the cage mates were not ever handled by people they might. I have had some pretty scared of people rats but they have never destroyed their litter because of me picking them up. Sorry I can't be more help.

It was a week I had them in there due to other issues and I couldn't finish the rodent work in time. thanks for the help
